Sunday Sketches

Happy Sunday Sketches All!
For more great sketches head over to Sophia's lovely place.
This is an unfinished piece that I have been messing around with all week... I still have some more detailing to do, but had fun painting the background around her with acrylic pearl white paint. It really made the background shimmery and look much better than just a plain white paint.
This is also my first face with very little color on the skin. I left her mostly paper colored and I love how it turned out.

And this is my daughter Amira's sketch for this week!
Amira is 11 ~ She has been working on eyes and hair lately and it's amazing the progress from just 6 months ago. I am so proud of her and love watching her develop her own style.

Thanks to you all for stopping by and leaving such wonderful comments. I look forward to Sunday all week!
Smiles and hope you are having a splendiferous Sunday!!!

Oooooh, there is so MUCH I LOVE here - first of all, your daughter's work is perfect - I can't believe that she is 11! Tell her I'm proud! AND as for you, I love your beautiful, etherial woman - too bad shimmer and shine don't show up on blogs as much as I wish they would - I am sure that she just looks heavenly surrounded by all that pearl!

Julia, your sketch is so lovely, you just keep getting better and better. I love the soft colors on this girl and the blue in her hair and eyes just pops against the white.

Your daughter's sketch is wonderful, she has a great talent, I hope she continues along her artistic pathway, she has much to share.

I think your ethereal girl may be part mermaid - so a pearl background is perfect! Your sketch I mean not your daughter :-) Amira's sketch is fabulous - the eyes are wonderful! You are very talented Amira, thank you for sharing this with us - and such a beautiful name

Julia,
Hello and happy Sunday. Your Sea Spirit is BEAUTIFUL. She is my new favorite, really. She does have the likeness of a mermaid. Just gorgeous throughout, too. She wears a lovely spirit and wonderful color palette.

Amira,
Wow, it's wonderful to see so much talent in an 11 year old. I am so glad you contributed to SS this week! Great work on her braid. I wish you luck with your drawing.

I just LOVE her blue hair! Of course, I'm partial to blue altogether, but still! :)

Sorry I didn't get to a sketch this week. Stuff going on. Ugh.

And your daughter's sketch is super! What talent she has already at such a young age! :)

Just when I am in such a mermaid mood, here you are with a very watery looking piece. She is very delicate too and so pretty. I can see where your daughter gets her inspiration. It's great to draw with our children.

It's amazing how children soak up so much influence from their parents. My girl, who's 7, loves to sit by me whenever I'm drawing and she would try to copy whatever I do. It's flattery at its best! And I see just that influence you have on your daughter's drawing, Julia. You must be so proud of her! :))

PS: Love, LOVE your blue lady...she's like a breeze of cool air! oxx

Julia your art is so lively and gorgeous & it's obvious that Amira inherited her mothers amazing skills. I have been such a bad blogger since May & I have missed stopping bye. I hope your summer has been truly great?
