Sunday Sketches ~ UPDATE!

A BIG THANK YOU TO LISA OVER AT http://all-the-wright-stuff.blogspot.com/!
She suggested I add patterns to the flowers and mentioned that she seemed to be showered with flowers.
Oh that got the creative juices flowing and back to the drawing board I went!
I patterned the leaves which instantly made them seem more like part of the picture. I love how they turned out.
Then I used a gold pen to add in some raindrops and vertical lines. I found a single hole punch and punched out little dots from various colors of cardstock and went to town.
This now seems like a really 'finished' piece and I have Lisa to thank for her wonderful suggestions.
I have to say again how much I appreciate all of your feedback on my art! I am exploring so many new sides of me artistically, and some major inspiration comes from all of you! Thanks so much!
Happy Sunday Sketches All!

Before I posted the final version I had written:

I've been working on this piece for a couple of weeks off and on - I love how vibrant she is! The flowers I added at the last minute and I am still pondering whether or not I like them....

Love to hear your feedback!

Hope you are all having a relaxing wonderful weekend. I'm off to an art festival with the idea of scoping things out for possibly participating next year...Hmmmmm!

Smiles to you all and Happy Sunday.

There is a mystical energy that comes from a lot of your work. I just love the colors you've used here! This is a beautiful style you have blooming(O:

I do love this series you are working on. I think the flowers should stay but perhaps need a little work. They seem a bit unfinished compared to the figure who is alive with a vibrant vibe (if there is such a thing!). Perhaps just a little pattern on the petals will tie everything together?? I do like their addition though - I'm imagining her in a shower of fragrant blooms on a moonlit night somewhere tropical!
Another thing you could try would be to make the blooms fade into the background more. Are they tissue? I would try wetting it so the tissue almost starts to dissolve... In fact, I might go and have a try myself to see if this technique works! It's nice to share the creative journey with each other. Let me know how you get on, mind you saying that - she does look just fine as she is, but you did ask!!

Lisa - thanks for all these great suggestions! I think I may try patterning them with ink, I would have never thought of that! I love your ideas...Keep 'em coming!

Isn't if fun exploring different avenues of art? I am stuck in the watercolour world right now. :)

And I have to say, I am always intrigued with the amount of detail in your art. How DO you do it? :D

love the colors and the patterns and especially the backdrop - compare to the version with black background, I think it works quite well with the color dots, it certainly brightens the whole piece
