Sunday Sketches - Happy New Year!

Happy First Sunday of The New Year Everyone.  For more great Sunday Sketches, you can head over to Sophia's place.  Please join us if you'd like ~ it's lots of fun!   This is a new piece I worked on yesterday and today, inspired yet again by another very talented artist JessieLilac over at the Purple Tree bird.  Jessie did a picture for the winter solstice, and I loved the pose, so I tried to put my own spin on it here.  If you haven't seen Jessie's work, head over and take a look, she is a fabulous artist.
I am planning on framing this for my living room.  I am always the most contented when wrapped in my sweetie's arms and it is there that I find my bliss.  I still have some detail work to add to this but I'm excited to frame it and hang it on the wall!

Looking forward to seeing what everyone else is doing this week!
I wanted to be sure to say thank you again to everyone that takes the time to stop by and leave a comment.  Your comments really make my day and I am looking forward to making many more friends this year as I continue to find incredible artists and writers through my blogland rambles.

Aaaaawwwww! This is lovely. What a great sentiment. Don't you find yourself creating freely when you are most happy? You know there are some artists who create when their life is in chaos and filled with sorrow. I on the other hand can't start to create unless my heart is at peace. I may be sad in the middle of it but to start, I have to be happy or content. I think that you may be the same. Your work evokes contentment and peace. Happy Sunday, Julia.

P.S. Loving the new blog look.

Yikes Heather, this is supposed to be me and my sweetie...maybe I need to make the guy more masculine. He does have a shadow of a beard, but it didn't come through very strong in the picture - I'll have to make it darker...

thanks for all your sweet comments! I can't wait to find a frame for this piece!

Smiles

WOW!!!Julie this is just beautiful! The pose and the look of bliss on her/your face, just perfect. I really like your work that was inspired by Lisa Lectura too. I agree she is an amazing artist and you did a wonderful piece inspired by her!!! In the time that I have followed your blog this past year I have seen your art blossom and grow, you have a style that is unique to you. So wonderful to see!!! Thank you for your lovely encouragement and support this last year and I look forward to this years creative adventure with you :0)

I managed to finish my painting of 'resolutions' and it's now on my blog if you'd like to see how it turned out!

Hi Julia! Thanks so much for your message. I've always used blogger's links bar to follow, but I've added a follow gadget to the right sidebar of my blog (first thing on it), since I suppose that's a bit confusing! I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any problems with it. :)
