Sunday Sketches

Happy Sunday Everyone!
I am a little late posting today as I was working on finishing these laminated bookmarks of some of my latest pieces...
They measure 4x6 or 5x7

I print them on high gloss photo paper and then laminate them - for some reason I can't get the pictures to rotate, so I am only able to show them from this angle, but if you click on the pictures, you can get an idea of what they look like.

I am finding these are wildly popular with my daughter's friends at school, and I have given a few of them away as gifts to friends too.  They really make wonderful bookmarks!

I also love what shrinking my work down to this size does to the details!
They are crazy tiny and it looks like "How does she do that?!"

These are two panels from the flower catalogue that I finished this week...haven't really produced much in the way of a new sketch, so thought I'd share these two panels.

And finally, I have foto proof that Spring is here!  Since we moved into this house last Fall, I am totally unfamiliar with what bulbs have been planted and what plants will be coming up...so every day a new batch of tiny green shoots emerges all over the yard, and I get to anticipate what flower will eventually peek out from the lovely green foliage - Like a new gift every day!

I hope you are enjoying some signs of Spring wherever you are.
This has been a most difficult week for me, watching the events in Japan unfold and feeling so very sad for all of those displaced people.
I hope you are all keeping them in your thoughts or prayers as your beliefs dictate.

Warmest hugs to you all on this beautiful Sunday!

You can find more wonderful Sunday Sketches over at Sophia's place...be sure to head over and see her adorable sketch and visit the other participants!

Lovely to see them all like that!

Are you going to open an etsy shop and sell them too?

Can't wait to see what you will do with paint! 2 weeks from now at Paint Party Friday? Excellent!

They do look so lovely all together, you should definitely sell them.
I get so depressed every time I turn on the news - now all this trouble with Libya too. So many people suffering.

I think there is no greater compliment that to have your art hip with our kids generation. These look amazing and I could so see them getting scooped up as a box set of notecards.

Wow Julia, they really do look fantastic. The details are SOOOOOO intricate!! What a beautiful collection you have. I can relate to your bulb surprises as we moved in the fall as well. We have a few shoots of things peeking out, I can't wait to see what's in out yard as the weather gets warmer. Happy Sunday and yes, deep thoughts about the people in Japan, it's a horrific event that will change the world and those people...........I just can't even imagine what they are going through.

Thank you all for your lovely comments and for the encouragement...I do have an Etsy account, but have not put pricing, mailing materials like plastic sleeves and cardboard backing in place so I can offer my art for sale. I'm actually not even sure where to get those supplies, so I am doing some research now, as I'd love to offer the bookmarks, notecard sets, and open edition prints for sale at Etsy.

I am humbled by your interest in what I do and love, and always so appreciative of your encouragement!

Smiles and hugs to you all

So you do your own printing??? What type of printer do you have? The bookmarks are excellent ideas - of course, your daughters friends love you women - I know that you are inspiring them - go girls.
cheers, dana

those bookmarks looks wonderful. I really like the sepia girl one - for some reason, I imagine her to be a mermaid. I think it's the wrap around and the way the flowers seems to float.

happy spring!

In answer to your question about my supplies, I get my supplies through etsy. If you search suppliers on there for whatever you are looking for there are so many great products out there for affordable prices. I'm discovering new shops all the time, my most favourite is Sun and Moon on etsy they have lovely supplies :0) Can't wait to see your pieces as jewellery I think they'll look beautiful!!! :0)

These are all so beautiful. I can see why they would be popular at your daughters school! Girls love things like these. I have boys so my work goes virtually unnoticed by them - lol. That's why I blog though, to get my girlie time in!
We have yet to see signs of spring here in Calgary, Alberta Canada... it is currently snowing! Really looking forward to warmer weather! LOL.
Hugs and blessings.

My goodness! That is a beautiful collection. I love the colors--what a lovely gift they would make. I also loved your flower catalog artwork. Exquisite.

Spring is here, I think--I noticed the big daffydowndillys are here now, towering over the tiny variety. Three types of violets crown the flower beds as the bluebells try to bloom.

Your photography is also wonderful, by the way! Have a wonderful week!

I was just looking at your daughter's book--reading up on it. Does she have a blog? Would it be possible for me to feature your daughter, her book and website on next week's FAT(Featured Art Tuesday) Artist Spotlight (March29)? (http://Bethlniquetteart.blogspot.com)

It sounds like a wonderful book. I like to feature all kinds of artists--that includes writers and poets. This book sounds SO interesting! It would be my hope people would check out her work and decide to purchase a copy. (grin)

Have a great week! Let me know, would you please? Thank you!

ooooh Julia what gorgeous eyecandy!! They look so beautiful there altogether... it's so hard to pick a favourite.

You really should be selling your art on etsy...I bet people would be rushing to buy them regardless of whether you sold them as prints, bookmarks or both.

I hope you do it soon... so I can pop over and grab myself one :D

hugs
Chris xx
