Sunday Sketches

Hello Everyone!  Happy Sunday to you all.  Here is my fourth finished gal in my series of five.  How do you like her?  I am really looking forward to seeing her on canvas.  I went to a local art supply store and bought some homemade paper that is a yummy shade of purple and has a great crinkled texture to it.  I plan on having it scanned and then use it as a frame around this piece before it is printed on canvas and stretched.  I am getting so excited to see this series of five finished!  Can't wait to show you them all in one post.

This lovely sketch is a possible start for my fifth and final gal in this series - the color for this one will be RED, my favorite decorating color (you will find shades of red everywhere in my house).  I think this sketch may be too docile for a red theme though so I am still trying to decide...what do you think?
As you can each week, if you head over to Sophia's place, our lovely hostess will provide links to some wonderful and fun sketches.  Be sure to stop by and check them out!
Looking forward to visiting all the other participants.
And thank you to everyone that takes the time to leave a comment.  I just enjoy hearing your thoughts, feedback and suggestions so much!
Smiles and have a great Sunday!

I love the purple series. Please keep them going for a while. They are soothing and refreshing.

Huh? Your process sounds complicated, I want to see that. Please share your process if you have the time. Thanks.

each one is a beauty, this one included.
I think this sketch can bloom beautifully in red. I look forward to seeing what you decide!

Although I love everything about this sketch, I have to say you really did an amazing job on her lips - beautifully shaped, full and luscious!

I say just go for it with the red girl. I'm sure she'll tell you how she wants to be!

There is always such beauty in the details of your paintings from the tiny dots in the irises in the eyes to the cut paper flowers in her hair... fantastic.

I think your sketch will be quite fabulous in red. (And I must admit, I'm quite anxious to see the whole series together - YAY!)

Good Morning Julia, she turned out just beautiful, I love the detail of the faint freckles, such a fun detail. I love the drawing for the next one and maybe she just looks docile in pencil, red just may liven her up.

I love this in purple, especially the freckles! I'm with you about the one in red, but . . maybe with real red lips it would work.

She is gorgeous. The purple against the black and white really make this drawing pop!

quite beautiful final, love all the patterns and colors

& the sketch? I think docile would go well with red - I like to do opposites, but that's just me

I am such an admirer of your pen/ink work. You are such a master of technique. The colors are so beautifully selected in this piece and I can only imagine how may patient hours she must have taken to complete.

I just love that she has freckles! A perfect detail :)

And Miss Red? Reminds me a bit of the Riding Hood who also loved red. So cute!

I am really liking your series, Julia. I like her the best so far. The choker around her neck is incredible and defines her differently than the other girls (and they are just as lovely). :)

Hope you had a nice weekend. Big hugs! :)

Good morning,
Your eyes here on the purple lady are amazing. When I opened up the page, they looked so real! Great job Julia. That paper sounds cool, too.
I really can't wait to see them all together! WOW, very impressive. I am loving this series...they would make great postcard sets!
Hope you have a great day!!!! xo
